Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris
Book rant - reading tonight got me fired up to fight
This is the first book pulled from the viewers suggestion TBR jar.
Behind Closed Doors by B. A. Paris
Have you read this book, I am 30% through at this point, feeling scared and angry all at once.
This right here is why people have trust issues, so many scary minds out there.
Ok at this point I’m feeling love bombing - he picked her because her sister had down syndrome and she had a distant relationship with her parents.
I was so worried that the first weekend away was going to be a violent one.
It’s so creepy how Millie wanted to be included and after jacks not so subtle suggestion to pick someone else, and seems to give in, followed by the wedding fumble.
Honesty after the wedding morning I would have been out, honesty I would not leave the country with someone who has such drastic mood and personality switches.
Nope don’t get on the plane girl no no no …. That’s so scary, why is she tolerating his behavior at all, if she is use to princess treatment, why is she letting him run the show at all.
The first red flag that is never to be missed, he knew Millie came with the marriage and how dare he make her choose between him and a hospitalized family member.
Anyone who disregards your experience and or feelings is not a safe person and shouldn’t be trusted at all.
This is stressing me so much, he has the id and they are leaving the country, topped with his mood swings.
My inner brat could never, i would have gotten out and called the bluff 100%, and if he left me, that marriage certificate wouldn’t be getting processed.
I’m worried he’s gonna sell her in Thailand - honestly so scary.

Book rant 50%+ - spoilers sorry but I’m so angry
The hot and cold behavior is so calculated, the little horror history lesson, followed up by fact that she is in shock and still can’t believe the monster she has been under all along.
Oh wow that’s dark, locking someone on a balcony to fake a tan/happy vacation.
I appreciate he’s not into SA but mental abuse can be just as bad if not drastically worse than physical abuse.
It’s really just a theatrical play for him, almost like a mouse in a maze, but honestly what should we the readers expect from the man who enjoys others distress and much more…
Where is our unstable character getting all these funds, oh yeah probably the same place he’s getting all of these abuse ideas.
His work as a lawyer for battered women. Sadly I bet he enjoys his work for all the wrong reasons adding a whole other layer to the dark sadistic villain of the this story.
At this point in the book I have switched to the audiobook and playing it as 2x speed…
I’m struggling with the suspense and just want to know if they make it out or not…
I hope I don’t get any funky dreams after this, right before bed probably not a great bed time reading choice personally, but here we are.
…when is she going to stop reacting and stop making deals with jack?
Taking one of the small things in life that gives her comfort and turning it into another horror that plays into his unhinged plans.
Her sister is so smart, both of them are fighters.
The details and thought process he goes through, Even down to the color of the room yellow to red, bringing the manipulation full circle with reason for the portraits revealed.
I would hate to really know what thoughts he doesn’t share with others.
Grace needs to get on board with Millie’s - George Clooney plan, can’t fight monster with kindness girl time to get dirty and fight.
Oh I was stressing after all that, what a wonderful set up, the author did a wonderful job at setting up web after web, and holding back the outcome until the very last moment giving us all the information before revealing the outcome.
I appreciate that the story continues on after the main plot unraveled, it was a well balanced wrap up to the story delivered with both a narrated story and followed up by the perspective on the characters.
I would give this book 4 star it is a wonder thriller that will keep the reader guessing, I appreciate the different styles of story telling used throughout the story. This is a great thriller for those who like the stress and mystery that comes with the read but prefer to avoid the blood and gore in most stories.
