The Queen of the Tearling By Erika Johansen ⭐️⭐️⭐️
⭐️⭐️⭐️
A child queen to be, she is sheltered from many of the realities in the kingdom that she is to rule.
Following behind the many in human in moral and materialistic choices her mother made before her the new queen is expected by many to fail.
We follow the child queen as she makes her alliances enemies learns what her kingdom needs from her as she fights to free her people and rebuild her kingdom.
Lots of detail in the story I did enjoy the fact that it’s not very political more social trials then anything. A small touch of magic as she is guided by a stone worn around her neck.
The human trafficking is absolutely barbaric as one would expect, the last few chapters flood light on the suffering and desperation of the people being used as currency.
I did feel like the story had a lot of escalation up to the plot point but once the plot point was uncovered I did feel a few stagnant spots throughout the story. I would have liked more insight on the observations of the young queen I would’ve thought she’d have more interaction with more people and not just a two or three advisers.
I did feel like we had more insight on the people being trafficked in the last shipment described in the book then we have with the main character and her events.
All in all it was a very intriguing story however it could’ve used much more detail as far as the decision makings of the main character, and the trials she goes through with her kingdom.
I would recommend this to anyone who is liked female heroine stories as well as rooting for the underdog.
