The warmth of other suns by Isabel Wilkerson

Crying my eyes out - it’s beautiful but also so so sad and unfair - a bigger rush of people moving then the Californian gold rush - 1 million people moved out of the south for the first time seeking true freedom and without needing any permission for the first time in history. How it shaped our country, culture, and family dynamics in the process.

I can’t believe they buried her father possibly alive. I honestly have no words, at to think he might have been in a comma caused by diabetes. The school masters methods and then no Christmas on top of that, this little girl is having a rough life no doubt and right along with so many others.

The outlook on why children were beat for almost any reason was explained and it’s as awful as the punishments themselves. They believed it prepared their children to be subservient in turn protecting them from whites and the harsh deaths many people came to for very little cause if any at all. The casting process was to raise subservient children.

His sister died by the hand of her own husband after being accused of flirting, the sad part is she trusted him and told everyone who warned her that he would never she trusted him. That somehow to me makes it even worse if that’s possible.

Big George Is awful beating his wife and his small children having to hit him to protect there own mom - and the plan is to sent the little boy back with the father later on, i wonder how the mothers felt when they had to send children to the grandparents or the father and have no say in the matter.

Such a rough world so many different stories and very tough outlooks on life and how things just are. So frustrating to watch someone try and try and try and still loose out by no fault of their own. Truly eye opening really drives home the important of equality and justice in life. The lack of such effects everyone in some way and will and did have longer lasting effects than anyone knew, or could even stop if they had known.

I gave this book 5 stars, the delivery and plot line was smooth, and the characters well described. Was an emotional read #thewarmthofothersuns
