A Curious Beginning - A Veronica Speedwell Mystery by Deanna Raybourn

After her guardian passed away it seems many people are interestedly in the veronica but for what reason we do not know yet.

saved by a Barron who claims she is in danger and that he knew her mother at one time,

We find ourselves in the home of a prickly tempered taxidermist.

With the current project absorbing our main character during her stay with the strange man tasked with her safety in exchange for a debit he owned the mysterious Barron.

More people are dying around our centered character and the reason is still unknown.

After necessity caused an abrupt relocation Veronica and the stranger she has been in trusted with, abandoned their new found project of reconstructing a large hide.

After little other choices due to safely concerns and the need to find out what happened to the Barron, we find ourselves thrown into the company of a traveling circus.

I’m feeling a forced proximity romance and it’s kinda creepy they both like to preserve dead things - her butterflies - him nearly every animal under the sun.

The changes in scenery so far in the story have been drastic and unexpected, adding a fun twist to the already carefully curated secrets of the plot that’s are slowly coming to light.

The fist 100 pages in my opinion are captivating and honestly had me considering reading the book through to the end, at this very early point, I see myself checking out the other books In this series.
